After falling in love with the Duke of Wellington at the age of 16, Alice has relentlessly pursued historical truth through space and time and many a weary book. Her favourite places are Revolutionary Paris, the Peninsular War, Viking Sweden, Scott of the Antarctic and anywhere there are sailors.
Her favourite hobbies are Morris dancing and writing in the third person.

Very interesting history
I’m in the middle of reading about Hemingway and his liberation of Paris when La Païve Maison was mentioned, I googled La Grande Horizontale, which led me to your page. I’m also separately reading Casanova’s memoirs and he also crossed paths with Pauline Bonaparte and Duke/Duchess D’Eon. Just a beautiful set of coincidence leading me to write this out.
